SAGINAW CHIPPEWA TRIBAL COLLEGE
VIRIDIS Design Group provided professional site planning and design services to the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe for a “Living Learning Laboratory”. The Tribe is committed to catalyzing the transformation toward a community that is socially just, culturally rich and ecologically restorative. The project followed the requirements of the Living Building Challenge which is premised on the belief that providing a compelling vision for the future is a fundamental requirement for reconciling humanity’s relationship with the natural world. VIRIDIS’ role in the project encompassed all site related planning and design including: pedestrian and vehicular circulation, native habitat preservation and restoration, stormwater harvesting, bio-infiltration systems, outdoor education including an on-site working farm, campus common spaces, and connections to the regional non-motorized trail system.
