KETCHUM PARK CRONIN MILL RACE PAVILION & CONFLUENCE GARDEN
VIRIDIS Design Group provided professional design services to the City of Marshall Parks Department for the first phase of implementation of their 25-Year Master Plan. City officials and the Ketchum Park Advisory Committee worked with the directly with VIRIDIS to develop a pavilion and garden space that showcased the industrial history of the park and address stormwater issues in an ecologically sensitive way. The design merged history, culture, art, and ecology through the use of materials such as corten steel, locally sourced rock, and native plants.
The transformation of this portion of the park highlights remnants left from the former mill and activates a space that was unusable after the existing millrace was removed from the site. A well-loved amenity to the community, the pavilion offers a space for both large and small groups to congregate, with views of Mill Creek and a preserved historic bridge. The central fireplace provides light and warmth for evening and year-round use.
